Dave Webb is an elementary/middle school teacher and the author of books for children and young adults. His first book was Slinky Inkermannand the Crazy Contest, a humorous middle-grade chapter book published in 1996. It was followed by two sequels. In 2007 Webb published the heart-wrenching young adult novel Amber about a young girl who must overcome a lifetime of neglect and instability. Its sequel, Amber Lee, was published in March of 2013. In the Fall of 2011, Webb published Barkley Rules for ages 10 and up. The main character, Barkley, is a sixth-grader who is sick of bullying at his middle school and creates a list of rules he thinks everyone should follow to make life easier. Soon he narrows the list down to one important rule. (Can you guess what it is?) In August of 2012 Webb re-released his middle grade novel, Middle School Mania, the third installment in the Slinky Inkermann trilogy that tells about how 11-year-old Slinky adjusts to middle school and all the changes that come with it. Available in paperback at amazon.com, bn.com, and other online retailers. Also available on Kindle at www.amazon.com. In May of 2013 Webb re-released the second book in the Slinky Inkermann series, Superfreaky Summer. It is intended for readers ages 8 to 12. On July 31st 2013, Webb published the e-book version of The Book Champ, his seventh novel for young people. It tells the story of fifth-grader Ashley Adams and her quest to retain her crown as the best reader at Eva McCune Elementary School. For ages 8-12. Available in paperback in August, 2013.
Webb's first non-fiction book, Mr. Nomad: Tales of a Traveling Teacher, is a memoir and a teacher resource in one. It was reviewed in 2016 by Publishers' Weekly. In the book, he recalls some of the most memorable events from his nearly thirty-year career in education. His many travels as a teacher have taken him to dozens of public and private schools, and have connected him and his classes with the likes of award-winning authors, Hollywood actors, and students from around the world. Often funny, sometimes heartbreaking, Mr. Nomad examines crossroads in the author’s career while offering helpful ideas for other teachers to use in their own classrooms.
